Daetan B. Huck

Daetan B. Huck chairs DRG's Litigation Group and focuses his practice on significant civil and commercial disputes. He represents businesses, owners and individuals in matters involving commercial relationships, contracts, business ownership, intellectual property and other complex civil claims.

Daetan brings a deep first-chair trial background to that work. He has tried cases to verdict as lead counsel in civil, criminal and medical malpractice matters, argued appeals, and represented clients in mediation and arbitration. Earlier in his career he founded and ran his own defense practice in Washington.

As Chair of the Litigation Group, Daetan leads the firm's dedicated litigation practice and works closely with Associate Attorney Julie M. Howard throughout contested matters, from early case assessment and strategy through discovery, motion practice, mediation and trial preparation.

When disputes arise from business or real estate relationships the firm has advised on, Daetan works directly with DRG's Transactional Group. This collaborative structure allows the litigation team to draw on both dedicated litigation experience and the institutional knowledge already developed within the firm.

Daetan is also a registered patent attorney. His intellectual property practice includes drafting and prosecuting patent applications for computer, electronic and medical device technologies, and counseling clients on licensing, infringement, searches and freedom-to-operate analysis.
